My second truck was a 2004 Dodge Ram 4X4 , with the optional Hemi V8. Although nominally a smaller engine than the V10, it produced 345 hp compared to the V10s 310hp, albeit at a much higher RPM and a lower torque. I further improved the performance with the aid of an AFE cold air filter, Gibson performance exghaust and a Superchips programmer. After these mods, the truck sounded amazing, and there was a significant boost in performance.I would guess the engine was putting out between 380-400 hp.
I drove it in California for 2 years, then returned to the UK, bringing the truck with me. As a returning resident, I was exempt from paying VAT and import duty, unless I sold the truck within 12 months. So I kept it for a year, before selling it, but by then had bought my current truck, a 2005 Ram SRT-10.

The truck is a personal import, and I owned it in California for two years before bringing it back to the UK just over a year ago. It is in excellent condition, with only 20,400 miles on the clock. It has the Laramie trim, the highest level of trim available in the Ram truck range, which means it has every conceivable extra, or as the Yanks say “fully loaded”. And of course it has the famous 5.7 litre Hemi V8.

These mods have two effects, firstly the performance is absolutely staggering, for a 2.5 ton vehicle, with 0-60 attained in around 7 seconds. I estimate that the engine is now putting out 380-400 bhp. Secondly the sound!
